An adult male gorilla takes the name silverback from the distinctive silvery fur across the back and hips. Cast in a colour created for this piece alone, called Nearly Black, which suits the subject extremely well and makes the gorilla wonderfully daunting.

Seen at its best on the rocky peninsula base, the two together making a commanding group.
